Four people are dead including two Filipino American siblings following a shooting in the Northern Los Angeles County town of Lancaster.
The Asean Daily reports three of the dead have been identified as sisters Janvi Maquindang and Christine Asa-Ca and Asa-Ca’s fiance Edwin Garcia.
It happened in the early morning hours of Saturday morning.
“We are grappling with an overwhelming sense of loss, and the daily struggle to cope with their absence is beyond words,” the Maquindang family said in a statement.
Three of the dead were found in a home where fire also erupted, reports ABC7.
A 16-year-old also was at the home, but managed to escape uninjured by hiding until authorities arrived.
“The family member we have at the station heard the gunshots around 1:27 this morning… she stayed in her room because she was scared, and that’s when deputies were able to locate her and extract her,” said Los Angeles Sheriff Department Lt. Steve Dejong.
Three of the victims are described as in their early 20’s and authorities say they may have been in bed when the shooting took place.
The fourth victim has been identified as Maquindang’s partner, Matthew Montebello. He died at the hospital while the others were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Manilla Standard.
Authorities have yet to determine a motive in the case.
