The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) is an organization of South Asian countries, founded in 1985, that is dedicated to economic, technological, social, and cultural development, emphasizing collective self-reliance. SAARC has been widely considered to be defunct since 2016 because of tensions between India and Pakistan.
