    Bangladeshi Film Roid Wins Best Asian Film Critics’ Award

    In a significant boost for Bangladesh’s film industry, filmmaker Mejbaur Rahman Sumon’s latest movie, Roid, has won the Critics’ Award for Best Asian Film at the Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF) in Vietnam.


    Director Sumon shared the news on social media, expressing his gratitude to the festival organizers and the programming team. He specifically thanked the distinguished jury—Kong Rithdee, Hoàng Câm Giang, and Hoàng Thu Hằng—for the recognition.



    The award is being hailed as a major milestone, reflecting the growing global appreciation for Bangladeshi storytelling. “So proud to see Bangladeshi cinema continue to find its place on the world stage,” noted one of the film’s producers while congratulating the team.


    Roid features an ensemble cast including Nazifa Tushi, Mostafizur Noor Imran, Gazi Rakayet, Ahsabul Yamin, and Riad. The victory at DANAFF underscores the rising international profile of Bangladeshi filmmakers and their creative contributions to Asian cinema.
