Coral Academy of Science’s Sandy Ridge campus in Henderson is celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with a display on their culture corner. This display features prominent Asian American celebrities such as Jackie Chan, Naomi Osaka, and Auliʻi Cravalho, the voice of Moana.

Teacher Ana Belen started the Culture Corner in 2021 as an altar to celebrate Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and it was such a success she asked the school if she could keep it year-round to teach students about different cultures and traditions, which was approved.

Ms. Belen is encouraging her students to learn more about the origin of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and the many contributions the community has made in this country over the years.
