    Sensex hits 85000 for 1st time, Nifty shy of 26k; metals up 2%

    Share Market LIVE Updates September 24: The S&P BSE Sensex started flat with a negative bias at 84,860.73, down by 67.88 points or 0.08 per cent. Likewise, Nifty50 too began the session in the red with a slight cut of 17.60 points or 0.07 per cent.

    Nifty Metal is seeing good buying today, surging up by around 1.7 per cent in the morning trades. Tata Steel is trading higher by nearly 1.3 per cent, JSW Steel up by around 2 per cent, Hindalco up by nearly 1.5 per cent, and Vedanta too up by nearly 1.8 per cent. Jindal Steel too is trading higher by around 2 per cent. This surge in metal stocks came on the back of China’s central bank unveiling fresh measures to boost the struggling economy, cutting the amount of cash banks must hold in reserve and lowering a key interest rate.

    Following it are Nifty Midsmall Healthcare and Nifty Healthcare, with gains ranging between 0.5-1 per cent. On the flip side, Nifty IT, Nifty Realty, Nifty PSU Bank are trading in the red with cuts between 0.4-0.6 per cent.

    Tata Steel and JSW Steel are the top gainers in the S&P BSE Sensex in morning session, rising around 2 per cent each. Following them are Power Grid, Nestle India, Tata Motors, HDFC Bank, Sun Pharma and Larsen & Toubro among others. Among the top losers in the 30-share Sensex, Bajaj Finance, Hindustan Unilever, Infosys, UltraTech Cement, HCL Tech, Kotak Mahindra Bank, IndusInd Bank, and Bajaj Finserv among others. In the NSE Nifty50 pack, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Hindalco, Tata Consumer Products, Nestle India are the top gainers, while Bajaj Finance, HDFC Life, Infosys, SBI Life, Hindustan Unilever are among the top losers.
