Man knocked unconscious in attack on New York subway – AsAmNews

    Published on

A man walking down the stairs leaving a subway station in Queens says someone sucker punched him, knocking him unconscious.

Ferdianto Suwandi told ABC7News in New York that he got smacked right across the lip. Paramedics rushed him to nearby Elmhurst Hospital.

“I was just walking down the stairs looking at my phone and as soon as I got up, I got a random punch,” Suwandi said.

He told the New York Post the attack lasted close to a minute. It left his vision blurred with blood all around him. He also said he had difficulty hearing after the attack.

“I was so shocked, honestly,” he said. “I was like, ‘What’s going on? Why is there so much blood?’

“People are asking me, ‘Yo, what happened, what happened?’ I said I don’t know what happened, but I just got knocked out for no reason and the guy got away.”

He suspects he was attacked because he’s Asian.

WABC reports Suwandi is a sushi chef. He expects to be out of work at least a week while he recovers from his injuries.

The description of the suspect is vague- just wearing a pink jacket and jeans.
