Applications for AAJA’s 2025 Executive Leadership Program are now open! ELP provides mid to senior-level career professionals with the training and skills needed to become journalism and media industry leaders. 

Our 2025 program will be hybrid, with virtual sessions and in-person components. The opening session will take place in Washington, D.C. from April 23-26 and the closing session will take place during #AAJA25 in Seattle, Washington on July 30. Participants are required to attend all live sessions. They are also responsible for having all the technology needed to attend a virtual conference, including a computer, webcam, and reliable internet. 

Tuition is $1,750 for AAJA members and $2,250 for non-members. It includes the costs of training materials, meals during in-person sessions, and basic registration for the 2025 AAJA National Convention. Program costs can be offset or fully covered through various AAJA scholarships and fellowships; specific details are included in the ELP application.

APPLICATION 

Individuals with at least four to seven years of experience working across the journalism and media industry are encouraged to apply. Space is limited and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until filled. Acceptance into the program may be contingent upon an interview.

The Executive Leadership Program (ELP) is for any individual with at least four to seven years of experience working across the journalism and media industry interested in advancing their careers and developing the skills to achieve their professional and personal goals. ELP is a challenging, practical, and life-changing experience.

This is not a business-as-usual program about how to become a better manager. It is a transformational experience program aimed at developing the next diverse generation of journalism and media leaders who can lead in uncertain times and build a sustainable future for journalism.

The program explores the responsibilities and challenges of a media workplace, how to lead in the changing landscape, and how cultural values come into play.
