She recently hosted the second edition of her female-only, Brooklyn-based event showcase for Dauntless, further highlighting her commitment to creating inclusive spaces within the scene. Her uncompromising productions continue to earn support from electronic music’s elite, including Maceo Plex, Marco Faraone, Richie Hawtin, and Joseph Capriati, and has garnered attention from influential media outlets including DJ Mag, Forbes, Beatportal, Mixmag Brasil.

Her latest single, “Hits Different,” showcases HELANG’s signature blend of deep, driving rhythms and atmospheric textures, further cementing her position as an innovative force in the underground electronic scene.
“AAPI Heritage Month holds a special place in my heart because it reminds me to be kind to myself, celebrate my journey, and continue to unapologetically be badass,” Helang shares. “As the daughter of first generation immigrant parents, my life growing up could not have been hectic. Looking back though I’m glad my experiences shaped me into the empathetic and emotionally intelligent creative that I am today. I hope all my fellow Asian American artists feel proud of themselves not just during this month, but outside of it as well.”
Stream “Hits Different” wherever you listen to music, and dive into HELANG’s AAPI Heritage Month playlist below!

A Chinese-American Looking Glass into House & Techno from Helang

    by HELANG

    “Hush My Heart” – Qrion

I may be a house techno baddie but underneath all that is a sucker for a good progressive tune with an emotional arp and lush synths. Qrion is a prime example of where hard work and the love for music can get you. I think she is a very talented artist and I will always support her work.

    “Dark Room” – Marie Vaunt

Marie is the queen of acid techno. She is not only an energetic performer and incredible producer but also a lovely human being. She has been in the game for almost 20 years and is another artist I look up to dearly.

    “Stay” – Sohmi

Sohmi has gone through an incredible journey of self discovery that is very inspiring and relatable. She reminds me that tough times don’t last, but tough people do. She writes music from the bottom of her heart and I love that about her art.

    “Midwest Panic” – Hiroko Yamamura

Hiroko is the ultimate meme queen and wizard on decks. She can seamlessly blend any genres onstage, then crack a joke on insta 5 minutes later. I love her persona, she’s also an amazing human being.

“Never Give In” – Ms. Mada

Ms. Mada aka Rachel is another great example of what hard work and dedication can do for one’s career. She has been spinning for 20 years and is now one of Space Miami’s beloved residents. She is lovely in person as well and amazingly skilled behind decks.

    “In the Morning” – Zhu

Zhu is an icon in pop house. I love that he filtered this genre through his own lens and writes music true to his core. He is also my fellow chinese fam which makes me feel proud. I will always support his work.

    “Raingurl” – Yaeji

This song is iconic and so is Yaeji. I love her quirk and grit. Her music draws many influences from her native culture and it shows. We love an authentic queen.

“Heaven on Earth” – Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki obviously needs no introduction. He is a relentless entrepreneur in this space and it is very admirable. The way he created and honed his own brand is something I have always appreciated.

    “Starry Night” – Peggy Gou

Peggy is a fashion queen and icon and I have always admired her success. She is the prime example of how having personality and a little bit of edge other than music can go a long way. I love that her brand ties music and fashion together.

    “Don’t Call Me” – Tokimonsta

Tokimonsta is a role model because she isn’t afraid to be different. I like that she is determined and creative.
