Asian American Film Series Showing in July at Alhecama Theatre | Arts & Entertainment

    Published on

Since 2010, the Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation (SBTHP) has presented the Asian American Film Series (AAFS), held on Fridays in July at Alhecama Theatre, 215a E. Canon Perdido St., Santa Barbara.

In an effort to explore the history and cultures of the Asian communities that once thrived in and around the Santa Barbara Presidio area, the series includes films that speak to the Asian American experience in the United States.

The films have addressed a range of historical and modern topics, such as the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II, Chinese American adoptions, and the contributions of key Asian American figures.

AAFS is free to attend for SBTHP members, with a suggested $5 donation for non-members. Seating is first come, first served.

The film series is made possible by support from the George H. Griffiths and
    Olive J. Griffiths Charitable Foundation.
