Asian American homes targeted in Hudson Valley burglaries – AsAmNews

    Published on

New York State Police are investigating a series of home burglaries in the Hudson Valley that have specifically targeted Asian American residents. The break-ins, which have occurred in Westchester, Dutchess, and Putnam counties, have involved significant thefts of cash and jewelry.

Community leaders expressed concern over the pattern of crimes. Marjorie Hsu, co-chair of the Westchester County Asian Advisory Board, called the incidents distressing.

“My initial reaction is outrage. We all have to do what we can to protect ourselves, protect our neighbors,” she said to News 12 Hudson Valley.

Westchester County Legislator David Imamura acknowledged that Asian American communities have faced similar threats since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. “This is something our community has been grappling with, and it seems to never end.”

Authorities are urging residents to take extra precautions, including improving home security, locking doors, and maintaining close communication with neighbors. According to Spectrum News, law enforcement agencies are working together to track the perpetrators and are asking anyone with information to contact New York State Police Troop K Headquarters at (845) 677-7300.

Officials continue to investigate whether the burglaries are part of a larger pattern of targeted crimes against Asian American residents.
