    Asia’s tech and auto suppliers weigh up impact of U.S. tariff hike

    TOKYO — From component makers to battery suppliers, Asian companies are bracing for the impact of U.S. President Joe Biden’s tariff hikes on imports of Chinese electric vehicles, EV batteries and materials.

    South Korean tech conglomerate Samsung is asking automotive suppliers to provide non-China production options due to concerns over the higher U.S. tariffs, sources with direct knowledge of the matter told Nikkei Asia. The country’s biggest tech company provides electronics modules and solutions for various automotive applications, with substantial supply chain links in China.
