Boston Mayor Michelle Wu is vowing not to cooperate with President-elect Donald Trump’s deportation plan.

Wu told Commonwealth Beacon Reporter Gintautas Dumcius on Wednesday that the Boston Police Department will not comply with any requests for assistance to expel undocumented immigrants from the city.

She said the city would only make an exception if presented evidence of criminal activity.

“I think there’s a little bit of talking out of both sides of their mouth,” she said, “in both saying they’re only prioritizing cases of extreme concern and criminal activity while also describing it as a mass deportation.”

In response, Trump’s appointed border czar Tom Homan, who does not need Senate confirmation, said about Wu’s comments, ““She’s not very smart, I’ll give her that,” he said to Boston.com.

“Either she helps us or gets the hell out of the way because we’re going to do it,” he went on to say. “And look, there’s a clear line here. … They can not cooperate, but there are certain laws in place that they can’t cross and I hope she doesn’t cross it.”

Trump reportedly plans to use the military to carry out his mass deportation plan.
