“Dim Sum (点心)” by Chinese American Bear

    Published on

Chinese American Bear are celebrating Lunar New Year with new single “Dim Sum (点心)”, a psychedelic celebration of Chinese food culture. The release follows the duo’s tour across the US, UK and China, during which they released their cover of Teresa Teng’s “The Moon Represents My Heart.” Chinese America Bear’s second album Wah!!! is out now via Moshi Moshi. Written, produced, and mixed by the duo themselves at their home studio in Seattle.

Anne: “Dim Sum is a popular Chinese brunch that’s comprised of a variety of small dishes – different kinds of buns, dumplings, baos, noodles, meats, etc. Growing up, I often went to dim sum with my family on weekends and wanted to write about those fun and yummy memories. As an adult, dim sum is still one of my favorite weekend meals to eat. I personally love the rice noodles and chicken feet haha.”

Bryce: “We wrote this song a while back, but didn’t get around to finishing it until recently. We were definitely channeling The Velvet Underground at the time, with more sugary vibes. My favorite line in the song is at the very end – “Dim sum, ohh dim sum, ohh dim sum, ohhhhh yum… yum.”
