U.S. figure skater Spencer Lane is feared to be among those on board an American Airlines plane that collided with a military helicopter at Reagan National International Airport Tuesday night.
American Airlines Flight 5342 took off from Wichita Dwight Eisenhower National Airport enroute to Reagan on Tuesday
Lane shared on Instagram Stories this haunting message at 6 p.m. Central time: ICT-DCA
The Washington Post reports that aviation officials do not believe there are any survivors as both aircraft went down into the Potomac River.
U.S. Figure Skating confirms several members of the team and their families were among the 64 people on board 5342 returning from the 2025 Prevagen U.S. Figure Skating Championship.
Three U.S. soldiers were on board the helicopter.
However, none of the bodies recovered so far have been identified.
Several people, however, have posted condolences on Lane’s Instagram account.
According to NBC News, Russian media has reported that Russian pairs figure skating champions Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov were also on board the flight. The married couple had been returning from a development camp in Wichita.
