Kaitlyn Chen re-signed by the Golden State Valkyries – AsAmNews

The surprising Golden State Valkyries of the WNBA have pulled yet another surprise.

The first-year team which is surpassing all expectation by winning five of its first ten games has re-signed UConn star Kaitlyn Chen onto its roster, reports Sports Illustrated.

They drafted her in the third round of the draft, but disappointed fans when they cut her just days before the start of the season.

During two exhibition games with the Valkyries, Chen was a plus 7 in 13 minutes of play-meaning the team outscored its opponent by 7 points while she was on the court.

The Valkyries roster is currently depleted having lost six players temporarily who will be representing their country in Eurobasket 2025.

FanSided predicts Chen will play about 10 minutes per game beginning Tuesday night against the Dallas Wings. Interestingly, she’ll play against UConn teammate and fellow NCAA champion Paige Buckers. It’s uncertain if Chen will remain on the team after the tournament ends on June 29th.

The Valkyries also added Chloe Bibby of Australia to its roster Sunday.

Some players could return earlier when their teams are eliminated from the tournament.
