Stock Market Updates: Benchmark stock indices opened in green on Wednesday (July 2). The Sensex opened at 83,790.72, compared to its previous close of 83,697.29. The Nifty50 opened at 25,588.30, against its previous close of 25,541.80.

Sensex gained 237.72 pts to hit high of 83,935.01.

At 9:30 AM, Nifty IT was 1.19 per cent up. Auto was 0.57 per cent higher.

Nifty Metal was trading 0.73 per cent higher, while Pharma was 0.46 per cent up.

Rupee fell 3 paise to 85.62 against US dollar in early trade.

Among Sensex firms, Bharat Electronics, Reliance Industries, Asian Paints, UltraTech Cement, Kotak Mahindra Bank and HDFC Bank were the major gainers.

Axis Bank, Trent, Eternal and Tech Mahindra were among the laggards.

“Domestic indices traded within a narrow range, following last week’s strong rally. Investors are closely monitoring developments, seeking clarity on U.S. tariffs as the 90-day pause approaches its end,” Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments Limited, said.

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth Rs 831.50 crore on Monday, according to exchange data.
