Thousands of people gathered in San Francisco marched in the “No Kings” demonstration to protest President Donald Trump and his policies.
The march was held intentionally on the same day as Trump’s birthday. The marchers met in Mission Dolores Park and then walked towards Civic Center, carrying signs and chanting.
It was one of 2,000 such protests across the country.
Andy Lee, who is from San Francisco, said he came to the march because of the “atrocities happening” and because he felt the Trump administration was “trampling on our constitution.” He believes it’s important for the AAPI community to stand up.
”It’s only a matter of time before it affects us, just like it did during COVID,” he said.
Tai Chang, who was a refugee from Vietnam, said he came because he is worried about San Francisco and the state of the country.
”I think it’s important to protect other people,” he said. “I want to be allies.”
