US sends investigators to South Korea plane crash site – AsAmNews

    Published on

The United States government sent a delegate of eight investigators to South Korea to help assess the Jeju Air plane crash that killed 179 people last Sunday.

The delegate consists of investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Transportation Safety Board and Boeing — who manufactured the plane, according to Fox News.

The American investigators inspected the crash site on Tuesday, but the details of their findings are not yet public.

But the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder found from the accident may provide key information on what occurred on the plane just prior to the crash, per NBC News. Because the flight data recorder was damaged, South Korea’s transport ministry will send it to the United States for analysis.

South Korean officials said today, NBC reported, that all 179 victims have been formally identified, and 11 bodies have been received by their families. Funerals are soon to be underway.
