International law firm Stephenson Harwood has welcomed Amita Haylock as its head of technology and intellectual property for Asia. Haylock joins from Mayer Brown, where she was a partner.

Haylock, who will be based across Hong Kong and Singapore, has nearly 20 years of experience advising clients across the Asia-Pacific on intellectual property, technology, media and telecommunications (TMT), and competition law. Her work focuses on complex matters that cut across regulation, commercial strategy, and disputes.

She has built and led cross-border practices across the region. They combine contentious and non-contentious IP work with expertise in TMT, competition, data privacy, and fintech.

Haylock spent nearly 11 years at Mayer Brown, becoming a partner in 2020. She previously worked at Bird & Bird.

“Amita is one of the leading TMT lawyers in Asia and we are very pleased that she will be joining us to lead and grow our practice there, in line with our regional and global strategy. As well as IP, technology, and data matters, Amita is able to advise on regulation and competition law, strengthening our ability to advise our clients on their most complex IP, technology, and data challenges,” said Dan Holland, Stephenson Harwood’s global head of intellectual property, technology, and data, in a statement.

Haylock becomes Stephenson Harwood’s latest Asia partner hire this year, after Zhi Chao Chor and Terence Seah in Singapore, and Sammy Li and Samson Suen in Hong Kong.
