Uniting Cultures Through Film
The Austin Asian American Film Festival (AAAFF) is back, and it’s bigger and better than ever! From June 26 to 30, the AAAFF will light up the AFS Cinema (located at 6259 Middle Fiskville Rd, Austin, TX 78752) with a dazzling array of films by Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) filmmakers. Now in its 16th year, the festival promises an unforgettable cinematic experience.
The Artistic Vision
Tsz Kam’s Captivating Poster Art
This year’s AAAFF poster art, created by local Austin artist Tsz Kam, speaks volumes. Kam’s work aims to reestablish a sense of belonging, and their talent has been exhibited across Texas. Notably, Kam’s latest mural graces Meow Wolf’s newest location in Grapevine, Texas.

A Glimpse into History
The AAAFF 20-Year History Exhibit
Step back in time at The Austin History Center (located at 810 Guadalupe St, Austin, TX 78701). Until July 2, the exhibit showcases photographs, previous posters, and ephemera from years past, documenting the true history of the Austin Asian American Film Festival. Don’t miss this special archival display!
A Director’s Perspective
Neha Aziz, AAAFF Artistic Director
“It’s been such an honor and privilege to oversee this year’s festival programming,” says Neha Aziz. The 2024 lineup features films from new voices and alumni, covering topics ranging from loss to relationships to passion and perseverance. There truly is something for everyone, and Neha is excited to share it with audiences.
Spotlight Films
Opening Night: “New Wave”
Directed by Elizabeth Ai, “New Wave” promises an incredible cinematic experience. Featuring Lynda Trang Đài, who has dazzled audiences performing for Paris by Night from Thuy Nga Productions, this film sets the tone for an unforgettable festival.
Centerpiece: “Blue Sunshine”
Screening on Friday, June 28, “Blue Sunshine” by Samyuktha Vijayan is a must-see. Before the film, join AAAFF’s annual Red Carpet Event.
Closing Night: “Ben and Suzanne: A Reunion in 4 Parts”
