Its Liver Disease Pathway supports risk assessment, targeted surveillance, HCC screening, and follow-up care for patients with chronic liver disease.

Roche Information Solutions (RIS) China received the China Health & Wellness Innovation of the Year – Health Products & Services at the Asian Innovation Excellence Awards 2026 for its precision liver disease management and early hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) detection solution. At the centre of the initiative was its navify Liver Disease Pathway (LDP), a digital platform designed to support earlier HCC identification by risk stratification and follow-up management according to the individual risk profiles of patients with chronic liver disease.

Risk assessment drew on several established models. THRI, aMAP, mPAGE-B, and REACH-B were incorporated alongside Roche’s GAAD digital early-screening algorithm, with baseline screening used to determine subsequent monitoring requirements. Higher-risk patients could be placed under closer surveillance, whilst those assessed at lower risk followed less intensive schedules.

The Rui Liver Care project conducted at Ruijin Hospital’s Department of Infectious Diseases—navify LDP—demonstrated its clinical and operational value. By integrating seamlessly with hospital information, laboratory, and imaging systems, navify LDP enabled automatic clinical data capture and real-time risk calculation directly within the clinical pathway. Beyond the hospital environment, a patient-facing WeChat Service Account streamlined appointment scheduling and follow-up support.

This digital pathway significantly improved early liver cancer detection rates amongst newly diagnosed patients and streamlined follow-up management. Furthermore, it enhanced patient compliance whilst establishing a disease-specific, real-world database to advance clinical translational research and long-term chronic liver disease management.

The model later extended beyond a single hospital setting. In Shanghai’s Jiading District and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, community health service centres, a district-level clinical laboratory, and designated tertiary hospitals were linked through a regional screening pathway. Resident profiling, initial screening, laboratory testing, referral, diagnosis, and multidisciplinary consultation were incorporated into the process.
