    Strengthening Film Industries in Central Asia

    A series of online webinars for cinema workers was organized to build the capacity of cinema professionals in Central Asia.

    1. Coproduction Opportunities with Germany or How to Find a German Coproducer?

    Speaker: Ms Simone Baumann. Ms Baumann is working in the film production for more as 25 years and has produced many documentaries and feature films. Till March 2019, she was the head of the documentary department of Saxonia Entertainment GmbH. From 1997 to 2010, she was managing director of the independent production company LE VISION. She is an experienced co-producer, and one of Europe’s leading experts on Russia, the former Eastern bloc, and their audiovisual markets. In April 2019, Simone Baumann was appointed as the Managing Director of German Films – the German film promotion. She has been working as the German Films Eastern Europe representative since 2005. She also supervised numerous feature film productions in the former Soviet Union as an executive producer and consultant.

    2. International Resources for the Cinema Projects from Central Asia

    Speaker: Ms Erke Dzhumakmatova. Ms Dzhumakmatova is a producer, scriptwriter, actress and filmmaker. She has more than 20 years of experience in the film industry of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, as a TV presenter, actress, executive and creative producer, scriptwriter for documentary, feature and commissioned films and manager of international projects. Member of the Board of the Union of Cinematographers of Kyrgyzstan. Deputy chairperson of the Producers Guild of Kyrgyzstan. Founder and head of the “Oymo Studio” production company. Producer of nominated and participating films of such international film festivals as Shanghai, Golden Globe Awards, Asian World Film Festival, Filmfest Dresden, Goteborg, Al Jazeera, HÕFF, HANIFF, Kinoshok, Zolotoy Vityaz, Eurasia, Didor, Kyrgyzstan – Land of Short Films, Ak-Ilbirs National Cinema Awards and others. Participant in international workshops for producers and scriptwriters in Germany, France, Estonia and Russia.

    3. Assessment of the State of Affairs in the Cinema Industry and Related Legislation in Tajikistan

    Speaker: Ms Sharofat Arabova – filmmaker, scriptwriter and producer, as well as the author of the national assessment.

    Speaker: Ms Erke Dzhumakmatova – producer, scriptwriter, filmmaker and film researcher.
