    CANNES, France — Japanese filmmakers led Asia’s presence at this year’s Cannes Film Festival in France in May, with three movies among the 22 competing for the prestigious Palme d’Or. But their greatest impact may have been behind the scenes, where the festival’s Film Market named Japan its Country of Honour and staged a special event dedicated to the growth of its intellectual property rights industry.
