    Mohammed Ali Naqvi

    Mohammed Ali “”Mo”” Naqvi is an award-winning director, producer, and writer whose work spans premium documentary, nonfiction series, and independent fiction. A member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Television Academy, Naqvi’s latest feature documentary, Hanging by a Wire, premiered in the World Documentary Competition at the Sundance Film Festival. He produced two seasons of Netflix’s global top ten hit docuseries Turning Point and received the inaugural Emmy Television Academy Honor for directing and producing Showtime’s Shame.

    His acclaimed documentary features include Among the Believers, Insha’Allah Democracy, The Accused: Damned or Devoted?, and Pakistan’s Hidden Shame, with work released by Netflix, Paramount, HBO, Showtime, BBC, STARZ and other leading platforms. His films have earned two Amnesty International Awards and nominations from the Independent Spirit Awards, Cinema Eye Honors, the Emmys, and the UNESCO–Fellini Prize. His fiction producing credits include Big River, which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival, and I Will Avenge You Iago, starring Giancarlo Esposito and Larry Pine.

    Naqvi also serves as Chairman of Pakistan’s Academy Awards Selection Committee and is the former Artistic Director of the Tasveer Film Market, supporting South Asian and global majority filmmakers. Naqvi’s work moves between documentary, fiction, and cultural leadership, examining power, class, and identity through intimate human stories set against larger political and social forces.
